Turning Recommendations into Action

During the course of a research study the amount of qualitative data gathered from educators and learners can be daunting. The goal of a finished report is to analyze and present this data with detail and clarity. A report in this fashion can easily reach 40+ pages and be an extremely useful tool for edtech companies to understand the scope and implications of the research. However, a report of the size can be hard to use when edtech developers are trying to quickly understand the educator and learner feedback and incorporate that into their product roadmap.

An Action Plan is used to distill a very long report into a digestible, 2-4 page document that serves as a simple checklist for edtech developers to reference. This is another tool that can be used to ensure that educator and learner feedback isn’t overlooked and there’s no ambiguity about what changes that want for the product.

Below is a sample Action Plan for a usability study that shows the simple and actionable feedback that should be incorporated into the next iteration of the product. This kind of document can also be used to evaluate the progress of an edtech company in implementing user feedback.
